Run a ritual
Start, run, and complete a ritual session on Skopo's Rituals page, capturing outcomes as durable records.
The Rituals page is where your team runs structured rituals — such as Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, and Retrospectives — and captures the decisions, actions, risks, and dependencies that emerge.
Before you start
- All project members can attend a ritual session.
- To start or complete a session, you need a Lead or Owner project role.
- The rituals available depend on your methodology. Scrum projects show Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement. Basic projects have no prescribed rituals but provide a generic Start ritual flow.
Steps
- Open your project and click Scrum Events (Scrum) or Rituals (other methodologies) in the project sidebar. The page heading is Rituals.
- Select the ritual you want to run from the ritual type bar (for example, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Retrospective). Each button shows its cadence (for example, "Each sprint", "Daily", "Ongoing").
- Click Start Sprint Planning (or the appropriate ritual start button for the selected ritual). The session status badge changes to Live.
- If the ritual involves work selection (Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, etc.), use the Candidate work panel to review open items. Check the box next to each item to select it. The Session plan panel on the right shows selected scope in points and the percentage of team capacity.
- Use the owner dropdown next to each work item to assign it to a human teammate or agent profile during the session.
- Mark items as ready by clicking the Draft toggle on the right of each item row; it changes to Ready.
- Click Commit (visible when one or more items are selected) to move selected items into the "ready" pool.
- When the ritual is complete, fill in the Completion outcomes panel on the right:
- Summary — free-form Markdown notes about what happened.
- Participants — check each attendee.
- Decisions — one decision per line; each becomes a durable decision record in Operations.
- Action items — one follow-up per line.
- Risks — one risk per line; each becomes an operational risk.
- Dependencies — one dependency per line.
Warning: Do not click End session in the page header — that button closes the session immediately without saving any outcome records. Always use the Complete with outcomes button at the bottom of the Completion outcomes panel to save decisions, action items, risks, and dependencies.
- Click Complete with outcomes (at the bottom of the Completion outcomes panel) to close the session and save all outcome records.
Result
The ritual session is marked completed. Decisions, action items, risks, and dependencies appear in the Operations view. The Latest ritual outcomes card on the Rituals page shows a summary with counts for Decisions, Actions, Risks, and Deps. Participants can discuss the outcomes using the collaboration button.
