Rituals
How Skopo models sessions and their durable outcomes.
Rituals are the recurring meetings and cadences that structure team collaboration. Which rituals a project has — and their names, agendas, and expected outputs — depends on the active methodology. Scrum projects run Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement. Kanban projects run Replenishment, Daily Kanban, Flow review, and Service delivery review. Each methodology defines the rituals appropriate to its way of working.
In Skopo, rituals are accessed from the dedicated view in the project sidebar (labelled, for example, "Scrum Events" in Scrum projects and "Rituals" in others).
Sessions
Each ritual can be started as a session from the Rituals page. A session tracks who is in the room, which work items are candidate scope, the facilitator, notes, and lifecycle state (not started, in progress, completed). Sessions are persisted server-side and are resumable: if you close the browser or another team member joins, the session state is preserved.
The Rituals page surfaces candidate work for the session — open items with their estimates, owners, and readiness status. Candidate items show their estimates, owners, and readiness, and the room tracks which are selected and how much capacity they consume.
Outcomes
Completing a ritual produces a structured, durable outcome that survives after the session ends. Ritual outcomes are not just free-text notes; each is a record containing:
- Participants — who attended the session.
- Selected work — the items that were committed to or reviewed.
- Summary — a narrative of what was decided and why.
- Decisions — explicit, named decisions made during the session, stored as decision records linked to the ritual.
- Actions — follow-up work items generated during the ritual and assigned to owners.
- Risks — risk records surfaced or created during the session.
- Dependencies — dependency follow-ups identified during the session.
- Goal links — validated connections to project goals.
- A metric event — an immutable event recording the ritual completion, used in Insights.
All of these are written in one transaction when you complete the ritual. Previous outcomes are visible on the Rituals page so you can review decisions, commitments, and patterns from past sessions.
