Manage the backlog
Prioritise, estimate, and schedule work items from the Skopo Backlog view.
The Backlog is where unscheduled work lives until the team is ready to pull it into active workflow. On methodologies that support sprint planning (such as Scrum), it also lets you drag items between sprints.
Before you start
- All project members can view the backlog.
- To create, reorder, or estimate items, you need at least a Member role.
- To assign items to sprints, you need a Lead or Owner role (or Member, depending on your project's policy).
Steps
- Open your project and click Backlog in the project sidebar.
- The backlog heading describes what the view does: for non-sprint methodologies it shows "Prioritize unscheduled work before it moves to the board." For sprint-based projects it shows "Drag items between sprints · click the points chip to estimate."
- To create a new item, click New work item in the backlog panel header. A creation modal opens where you can set the type, title, and initial status.
- To reorder items, drag a row up or down using the grip handle on the left of each row. Items earlier in the list have higher priority.
- To adjust an item's estimate, click the points chip (for example, 3 pt) on the right of a row. Each click cycles through the Fibonacci point scale: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13.
- If your project has active sprints (for example, a Scrum project), you will see sprint groups in the main panel and an Unscheduled Work rail on the right. Drag a card from the Unscheduled Work rail onto a sprint group to schedule it. Drag it back to remove it from the sprint. A capacity bar in the sprint group header shows points committed vs. the sprint capacity.
- Click any item row to open the detail drawer and view or update its full details.
Result
Your backlog is ordered by priority, items have estimates, and sprint-based projects show clearly which work is scheduled into which iteration. Unscheduled items stay in the backlog until the team is ready to commit them.
