Plan on the roadmap

Use Skopo's Roadmap view to see epics and work items on a timeline, adjust start and due dates by dragging, and schedule unplanned work.

The Roadmap view shows your project's work on a timeline. Each item appears as a bar from its start date to its due date, colored by workflow status. Parent items such as epics group their children and show how much of the child work is done.

Before you start

  • Every methodology includes Roadmap in the project sidebar.
  • Anyone on the project can view the roadmap. You need a role that can edit work items (Member or above) to change dates.
  • Bars come from the item's dates:
    • Start date to due date, when both are set.
    • Sprint dates, for items in a sprint without their own due date.
    • Created date to due date, when only a due date is set. Bars based on sprint or created dates have a dashed outline. Items with no dates go to the Unscheduled tray.

Steps

Read the timeline

  1. Open your project and click Roadmap in the project sidebar.
  2. Use Weeks, Months, or Quarters to change the zoom. Click Today to scroll back to the red today line.
  3. Choose Parents to see only parent items, such as epics, with their completion percentage. Choose All items to see each parent followed by its children. Use the arrow next to a parent to collapse or expand its children.
  4. The chart scrolls sideways on its own. The rest of the page stays in place, including on mobile.

Change dates

  1. Drag the middle of a bar to move the item. Its start and due dates both shift.
  2. Drag the left edge of a bar to change the start date, or the right edge to change the due date.
  3. With the keyboard, press Tab to focus a bar, then:
    • Left/Right arrow moves the item by one day.
    • Shift + arrow moves it by one week.
    • Alt + arrow changes only the due date. Changes are saved right away and appear on the timeline at once. If a save fails, the bar moves back and an error is shown.
  4. A parent with no dates of its own shows a thin summary bar covering its children. To move it, set dates on the parent.

Schedule unplanned work

  1. In the Unscheduled tray below the chart, click Schedule next to an item to place it on the timeline for the next two weeks starting today.
  2. Click an item's title anywhere on the roadmap to open it in the work-item drawer.

Use the list view

  1. Click List to switch to a table of the same items. The table shows the status, start date, due date, and parent progress for each item. Edit the date fields directly. The list works fully by keyboard and with screen readers.

Result

The roadmap shows when work is planned, which epics are on track, and what is still unscheduled. Date changes made here also update the board, backlog, and work-item drawer. To bring existing plans in from another tool, see /docs/guides/import-work-items.
